Saying Grace

Growing up Prayer was VERY IMPORTANT at the table! I really don't remember praying together at Breakfast and I think the reason for that was we kind of ate in 'shifts'.
But we did pray before and after Dinner (Lunch) and Supper (Dinner). My dad would start the prayers and we would join in.
We would also pray when our Extended Family got together for Holiday, Birthday and Sunday Dinners.
After we had the girls and still lived closer to family, I remember having Birthday Dinners at my house and being extremely nervous starting the prayer! (Later I learned to pick on my Daddy to say the prayer. I hadn't thought of that before, because my Grandma would always gather everyone together and start the prayer so I thought that was how it was done! After she passed I just didn't want to start it so I would ask my Daddy to do it.) Looking back that was silly because I was surrounded by people who loved me and whom I loved. I just really miss that now! Living 400 miles away from family doesn't make it easy to join up with everyone, but when we do make the trek, I sure do enjoy the prayin' and eatin' we do together!

So, why am I telling you all of this?
I just wanted a place to put the Meal Time Prayers that I was raised saying and what my children have learned.

Pre-Meal

Come, Lord Jesus, be our guest, and let these gifts to us be blessed. Amen.

Post-Meal

O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endureth forever.
Amen.
