A Successful Copycat and the winner of the CSN Giveaway!!

I might as well just admit it now, I AM SUPER CHEAP!!! I try to say that I am frugal, but if
I can make something for cheaper than I can buy it? I WILL!!!

I remember back in 2007 when we moved from Missouri to New Mexico and I was first introduced
to Starbucks! Before I had a sip! I just wondered why everyone wanted to pay so much for a cup of coffee!?!?
And I feel bad, I never actually paid for one but I had some really GREAT friends who always showed up with a cup holder full of Caramel Macchiatos!!

And so my new love for Starbucks began!!

I didn't give it much thought when we moved to Texas during the Summer of '08 that I gave up Starbucks.
Granted there is one on just about every corner here, but I didn't feel the need to indulge.
My coin purse would not allow it!

Lo and behold I came upon THIS recipe the other day and I had ALL of the ingredients except the
Caramel Sauce. I kindly asked Sean if he would pick a jar up at Wal-Mart for me Wednesday night.
And guess what? He did!!  Yay!!

So yesterday I began making myself a Caramel Macchiato!!
It is very simple. The most time consuming was heating up the milk!

Doesn't that look Delicious??
Well, IT tasted Delicious!!!

Are you ready for the recipe???

Ingredients
2 tablespoons vanilla syrup (recipe follows)
1/2 cup fresh espresso
1 cup milk, steamed and frothy with foam
3 – 4 tablespoons caramel sauce (I used the same jarred caramel sauce that is sold as an ice cream topping)
For the Vanilla syrup:
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
1. To make the vanilla syrup, combine sugar and water in a sauce pan. Bring to boil over high heat and boil for 5 minutes. Let cool and add vanilla extract. Stir well and keep in a sealed container, refrigerated.
2. To make coffee, either use an espresso machine to make coffee and steam milk, or heat milk until hot, but not boiling on stove-top and transfer to a blender. Blend until frothy. For espresso, if you don’t have a machine, just make double strength coffee.
3. Add vanilla syrup, espresso or strong coffee and hot milk to mug. Add caramel sauce and serve.

If you are fortunate to own a MAGIC BULLET, I suggest using that to 'froth & foam' your milk!!
Who wants to use a big ol blender when you have that little piece of magic?
However, if all you do have is a blender! Then use it! No need to go out and buy something new if
you can use what you have!!

* I apologize for the lack of pictures, but this is how it will be for awhile. I am unable to upload ANY pictures from my camera so for awhile my posts will only contain one picture taken with my phone!
I hope you understand. If you have any questions about any of the directions or if they seem a little tricky, please don't hesitate to shoot me an email or a msg on facebook and I will try and help you out!!
Or as always leave a comment here and I will respond back to you!!

Now!!! ARE YOU READY TO FIND OUT WHO WON THE CSN GIVEAWAY??
